Life In a New Town

Newton Aycliffe celebrated its 75th anniversary in June 2023. In 75 years the town has grown from little more than a muddy building site to the mature town we know today; and alongside that growth has developed a wealth of memories of growing up and living in the town.

On Saturday, 7th September 2024 the ‘Life in a New Town’ will be launched on Beveridge Way, Aycliffe Town Centre by the Mayor of Great Aycliffe, Councillor John Clark, at 11.45am. The display, filled with personal memories and photographs tells the story of the new town from its beginnings in those early years.

THERE ARE STREET ENTERTAINERS FROM 11.15AM AND A MUSIC STAGE WITH A VARIETY OF PERFORMERS FROM 12PM. PLUS… A STRIKING DISPLAY OF CLASSIC CARS AND VINTAGE BUSES! THE STORY OF OUR HERITAGE NOT TO BE MISSED
